Small, purposeful, and subtle, this is a very quiet building from the street. Inside, it is a spatial wonder. The ceiling, sheltering and warmly clad, undulates to make room for geometric glass panels viewing a watery horizon. Sunrise fills the linearly organized spaces and the deep colors of sunset, like watercolor, form a rippling canvas that is hard to describe. There are few walls for privacy. This is a house made for one very talented person- a ceramicist, a painter, a musician, and also made as a shared respite for good friends. Built-ins thicken the entire roadside wall, as functional and accessible storage anchors the playful layout of the open common space, complete with wood stove and an outstanding kitchen and island.. The process of construction was fully documented by the engaged Owner and is available in a lovely bound portfolio.
