The Family Forest

When we excavated, we found just the corner of the family estate, close to the surface and long in the past. This is a legacy project, on a family hill, in a family forest. Two structures, one- primarily private spaces and one-—made of spaces shared with friends and family—both structures linked together at the entry—almost a breezeway, revealing a courtyard. In its corner, the old foundation. It can feel as though one sleeps in their trees, when the entire room is a headboard between transparent corners, supporting a canopy. It can feel as though one lives on their lawn when the only object between the yard and the cook is an island. This home claims its inheritance.
