I doubt there was ever an orchard. This house is, rather, in a thicket of academics- part of the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul campus tenured faculty homes. One of the last homes built here, in 1969, was professionally designed with intent, under a very restricted budgetary guideline. It was time, in 2005, in 2008 and again in 2019, for original owners to act on possibilities never realized. More daylight, less energy consumption, …more texture, shade, and shadow…. more unfolding and layering of inside to outside, more fun, more personality and more social interaction.
